The revised settings were deployed on 8/26/19. So, as you turn on the iPads, they connect to wifi and check in with Jamf, they will get the updated restrictions settings. The updated restrictions no longer disable some of the keyboard's functionality, i.e. predictive text, auto correct, spell check, and define. These are now settings that can be managed at the school level. You will see some other district-wide restrictions, especially on iPads that can update to the latest iOS. To view restrictions on the iPad, that are part of Jamf Pro, you can always go to Settings > General > Device Management. Tap the MDM Profile, then tap the Restrictions. All the restriction settings deployed via Jamf Pro will be listed on the iPad's screen, even the settings the school chose to apply, if any. Our Apple partner's also put together a document that defines all the restrictions, if anyone ever wondered ....what does that restriction mean? The MDM Settings document is below. If you have any questions, please email iPads@cps.edu . Also, if your school has not yet migrated Apple devices to Jamf Pro, please email applemigration@cps.edu . Have a great school year! mobile_device_management_settings.pdf File Size: 351 kb File Type: pdf Download File Resources for TechCos and Teachers Throughout the year TechCos and Teachers have opportunities to go to professional development to learn new ways to incorporate technology into curriculum in meaningful ways, and/or how to manage devices more efficiently. Sometimes, you can't make it to those events, so, if you missed them....here are some valuable resources located under the Training tab - Resources from Tech Events. Everyone Can Code and Everyone Can Create Resources Now Available to Schools with Apple Devices Enrolled in Jamf! We are excited to share new resources from Apple that will help teachers ignite creativity in every student. Everyone Can Code and Everyone Can Create resources are available to schools that have migrated devices to Jamf ! Apple's new Everyone Can Create program was designed to help students develop and communicate their ideas through music, drawing, photos, and video with iPad . It includes free project guides with a range of activities for students to learn vocabulary and techniques using specific apps, like GarageBand, iMovie, Keynote, Clips and Swift Playgrounds through fun projects. The program includes a Teacher Guide with 300 ideas on how to integrate the projects from each app into math, literacy and literature, history and social studies, science and coding. Many CPS teachers attended Apple's Everyone Can Code professional development sessions over the last two years. Coding is essential to help students thrive in a future driven by technology. Apple created the Everyone Can Code curriculum with lessons on iPad and Mac , teacher guides and apps to make it easy to teach coding in your classroom. The Everyone Can Code curriculum is now available for all schools that have migrated devices to Jamf. This document explains how schools that have migrated Jamf can request theses iBooks. iOS 12 The latest version of iOS released today, September 17, 2018. ITS has completed testing of iOS 12. Effective immediately, the Apple firewall block has returned to its normal schedule, Monday – Friday, 8.a.m. to 4 p.m. For schools that have migrated to Jamf Pro, the district will be remotely updating your iPads that are eligible for this new iOS version. If you haven’t migrated to Jamf Pro, please email applemigration@cps.edu to get on the migration schedule. Any questions regarding the Apple block should be directed to ipads@cps.edu . To schedule a migration date or if you have questions regarding the JAMF, please email applemigration@cps.edu . For all technical issues, please call the IT Service Desk at (773) 553-3925, option 9. Thank you, Information & Technology Services Sign up for Jamf Hangouts in the Learning Hub - Every Monday Look for Jamf Hangouts in the Learning Hub, just do a keyword search: Jamf. There is a maximum of 10 seats per hangout. ITS recommends that one person per school register for a hangout to allow for more schools to join at one time. The hangouts will be repeated several times over the coming months. Newly Delivered iPads Good news! New iPads delivered to your school will already come enrolled in Jamf Pro. You just need to: Rename the devices following the CPS naming convention: Oracle ID-Cartxx- additional identifier. For example, 12345-Cart01-iPad 01 Create a new group for the iPads, or add them to an existing group in Jamf Become an Apple Teacher Apple Teacher was created exclusively for educators that offers tips, inspiration, news, and learning materials to help you unlock the magic of Apple products in your classroom. We are seeing that people with iOS devices are having trouble getting back into Gmail in the Gmail app. Here is a workaround for that problem. Problem : when the user tries to log into a Google application on iOS (other than Drive or Chrome), log in appears to succeed but fails with this error: “the network connection was lost”. Issue : the Gmail app — or other Google app — can’t talk to Google to finish the log-in process. Google Drive, however, often doesn’t have this problem, and once one Google app signs in, the other Google apps are able to borrow those credentials and log in. The following workaround will help most users bypass this problem. Workaround for “network connection was lost” error: Launch the Google Drive app (Download and install the Google Drive application if necessary) Tap manage accounts Tap add account Log into your CPS account, allow the app to log in Download and install the Gmail app Launch the Gmail app Tap manage accounts Tap add account Log into your CPS account Make sure to backspace out and clear any saved password on the login screen: password should be re-entered. User should not use a cached password Note : users are also seeing problems associated with being generally logged-out of Google apps. This does not generate the error above. For 10.3.3 and lower: Go to Settings, Mail, Accounts; select your CPS account; re-enter your CPS password. If these steps don't address your issue, please call the ITS Service Desk at (773) 553-3925 (option 9). We offer high quality world class education for the 21st century. Our mission is to ensure that every child is on track to graduate prepared for success in college, work and life. Go to cps.edu Home Blog About Us Contact Us Technical Support S...
